Come along to The Square on Saturday 6th August between 1pm and 4pm for a fun afternoon filled with 1940s Jazz music and Swing dancing!
Professional dance group, Quattro Swing will be performing impressive routines. They will also be leading a dance workshop so make sure you bring your dancing shoes so you can join in with the swing and learn some of the moves yourself!
The Sara Oschlag trio will be performing jazz music. The trio consists of female vocalist Sara Oschlag, who will be accompanied by guitar and double bass. Sara’s sulty jazz vocals are perfect for performing popular tunes from the jazz standards repertoire and their set list for the day is a truly captivating mix of songs which will evoke the bygone era of 1930s and 1940s Paris.
Quattro Swing is made up of Jess, Emily, Tom and Luke who are all professional dances who recently graduated from London Studio Centre and Laines Theatre Arts. After working on separate ventures including the Olympic Closing Ceremony, Jingle Bell Ball at the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Caribbean Cruises, the dancers came together to perform a unique, vintage themed act.
Having now performed at some prestigious venues such as the Bloomsbury Ballrooms, The Waldorf Hilton and Intercontinental Park Lane, they hope to continue with spreading the love of dance here at Saxon Square!
The event is perfect for those who are itching to get their swing on and join in with the dance workshop. It is also perfect for those who are simply excited to watch the talented performers whilst enjoying a cup of tea and slice of cake from Costa Coffee or Caffe Nero.
The event follows a performance from Christchurch and District band that will take place from 11am to 1pm at Saxon Square. This performance will start the day off on a musical note and set the tone brilliantly for the afternoon activities.
Come and soak up the atmosphere in The Square and enjoy the jazz music and swing dance.
