Earlier this month we held our afternoon of music and dance. It was such a fun and lively day with lots of dancing, not only from the professionals but by you guys too and we were very impressed with your moves! Our fantastic photographer for the day manged to capture some lovely moments and we wanted to share some of them with you on here. Christchurch and District Band
The day was kick-started with a tremendous performance from Christchurch and District Band. They set the tone perfectly for the day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their music and a concert performed by such a huge band!
The Sara Oschlag Trio
Next the much anticipated Sara Oshlag Trio took to the stage and performed some fantastic jazz tunes, some we recognised and others we didn't. Sara Oschlag the vocalist had a stunning voice and everyone was mesmerised by her. Backed by the talented bass and guitar players, their performances were truly loved and their repertoire of captivating jazz tunes went down a treat.
Everyone loved the Quattro Swing dancers. From their matching and adorable outfits to their vibrant and lively routines they managed to put a smile on everyone's face. When it came to the workshops, we had some brilliant participants from the audience both young and old! The little ones were so sweet as they danced and twirled away to the music - we may have some budding swing dancers here in Christchurch! We were so impressed with how well and how fast everyone managed to pick up the moves too. Perhaps we need to start our own Saxon Square Swing Dance Club....
The Bay Tree
A huge thank you to The Bay Tree Health Store for their fantastic involvement on the day too. We absolutely loved their 1940s fancy dress and their cinnamon ginger on the rocks mocktails were the perfect refreshments to accompany a bit of swing dance!
Again thanks to everyone that came down and we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Don't forget we have another brilliant event coming up on Saturday 17th August. Children are invited to enjoy a magical day of story telling all set inside a giant, inflatable peach!
So add this to your diaries, tell your friends and set a reminder on your phone, it is going to be a lovely day and we will see you there!
